Slovenia Day 1

MONDAY, 27/03/2023: In a pleasant atmosphere, we waited for our project partners, who came from M. Sobota, at the bus station in Cankova. After a friendly reception, we went to the cultural hall, where we first prepared a short welcome ceremony for our guests. The principal and the mayor welcomed the guests. Both groups prepared short presentations. Polish students prepared a language twister and danced the Krakow dance. The Turks presented their country during pictures and words. We went on a tour of the school and learned about the mobility program presented by the coordinator. In the beginning the participants completed a survey about their expectations of mobility. The introduction to the topic of water and energy mobility was a ZOOM lecture by scientist Dorian W. Janney from the American space agency NASA (because we are also a GLOBE school). Participants were thinking about meaning of the water and they debated. After that we made a weekly assignment – a carbon footprint cards. Every day we observed our daily activities and at the end of the week tried to find out in which areas we can be even more environmentally friendly and develop more green practices. Students cooprerated in mixed groups in storytelling workshop. We presented our story Kučnica tells a story…, which was also our theater event on Friday. As part of the story, we discused about ways to protect water resources. The students were divided into random mixed groups and started creating the e-book. In the afternoon, we tackled the water challenges along Kučnica. We went on a short walk to the border with Austria, but because of the strong wind, we only partially carried out the water activities. We made sand filters in the workshops and tested different waters (mineral, Donat Mg, Cana, tap water). After a short evaluation of the day, our guests went to the hotel in Murska Sobota.
