In the early morning we went on a day-long excursion through Slovenia, entitled “Slovenia – a sustainable country in the heart of Europe”. The excursion was sustainably designed using as many green practices as possible throughout the day. The route led us to Bled, where we first admired the view of the Alps and the lake with the surrounding plateaus. We saw the interior of the castle and took interesting photos. Then we went to the south side of the lake, where we held workshops by the lake shore. In mixed groups, the participants considered how to sustainably manage water resources, also in the example of preserving Lake Bled for future generations. We went to the tourist side of the lake, where we recorded some slogans for the use of green practices and a greener future. The route led us to the medieval town of Radovljica, where we first saw the manufacture of lectars, and then had lunch in the traditional Slovenian inn. After a pleasant walk around the city, we continued our journey near the Sava River, where we visited the Medvode HPP. With a brief explanation from the expert management, we learned about the construction of HPPs on the Sava River and the importance of these only on a Slovenian scale. We also learned about the advantages and disadvantages of using water energy. The route took us on a tour of the capital city of Ljubljana. We saw the medieval part of the city together, the groups then tried solving different challenges about the city’s cultural heritage. After the tour, there was a pleasant walk to Tivoli Park and then a drive back home. During the trip, we didn’t forget our common song and many other pleasant melodies.
